How do I clean oil off of a stainless steel pot?

HI. I have a set of stainless steel pots and every time I boil water in them they appear to have oil floating on top of the water. I have tried to use bottled water, but it does the same thing. I have tried to clean the pots with dish soap and a lot of water, but it still comes back. What should I do? Thanks for any help.

try a layer of baking soda in the pot for 20 minutes then use it to scrub the pot rinse completely. That should remove the residual oil from the pan seam.

you can go to walmart and for a couple bucks in the household cleaner aisle they have stuff called cameo stainless steel cleaner. works great on mine. even use on inside just be sure to wash it good. it is only a couple bucks . also get a scrub pad . it is a powder you rub in, but works excellent. good luck

put 1/4 cup vinegar, juice of 1 lemon, couple drops good quality dishsoap, and 4 cups water into the pot. boil for about half an hour covered. discard the liquid, then scrub the inside of the pot with a thick paste made of baking soda and water. rinse well. rewash the pot in your normal manner before use.
